Family Counseling
All counseling sessions are designed around the needs of the client. Counseling services can be delivered via telehealth or in-person. The sessions will focus on alleviating the current issues and developing strong coping strategies for moving forward into your best self.
Reunification Counseling- These sessions may be ordered by Family Court for a parent who has been absent in the children’s life for some reason. This counseling consists of having a consultation with both parents and the child if they are old enough to cognitively understand what is taking place. This counseling proceeds at the child’s pace. Each case is different so there Is no specific number of sessions quoted. Counseling is determined to be complete when the child/children are visiting the identified parent and can be released to a supervision agency or moved to unsupervised visitation. A visitation recommendation will be provided to the court if needed.
Parent Assessment: this is a tool that demonstrates your ability, readiness, and skills as a parent. It is a review of your history, ability and observation of your interactions with your children. This also includes an interview as well as filling out some parenting questionnaires. This usually takes 5-6 hours.
Mental Health Assessment: This is a review of your mental health history and diagnosis as well as a look at any limitations that your mental health will have on your ability to parent your children, if any. This usually takes 6 hours.
Supervised Visitation: While I seldom provide this service any longer, I do still offer it for those who have special circumstances, high conflict issues, danger issues, or anything that requires a higher level of skill in supervision.
Therapeutic Visitation: This is generally ordered by the court when there is extensive conflict between children and a parent. The goal of therapeutic visitation is to resolve the issue and assist the family with some usable skills in problem solving and positive communication.
Home Visits: These are done only by request. These are sometimes requested when a parenting assessment is being completed to demonstrate the suitability of the home for children. Home visits will be conducted at $250 per hour due to the intimate nature of the sessions and the travel time required to get to the home.
